This is a second impression copy from October 1914, it was first published earlier in October and quickly sold out. The author was famed a mountaineer but worked as an ambulance driver and correspondent for the Daily News during World War I until he lost a leg in an explosion, this did not curtail his mountaineering. Brown cloth covered boards with black lettering. Shows some discolouration to the ends papers and there is some light spotting to the early and late pages. Both ends papers are cracked on the hinge but the linen hinge is still holding. This is a scarce book and is a 1914 edition and NOT a modern reproduction.
