Blue cloth over boards with gilt lettering on the spine and a gilt regimental shield on the front board. Illustrated with many black and white photographs and the following fold-out pages: "Ordre de Bataille" - fold-out chart measuring 44 x 45 cm facing page 80, "Wschodnie Stoki Masywu Gorskiego Monte Cassino" - fold-out photograph measuring 45 x 22 cm facng page 240, "Polozenie na Froncie 3, DYW.STRZ.KARP, W Dniu 11 Maja 1944" - fold our map measuring 44 x 45 cm facing page 272. Ten page bibliography, 28 pages of various indices, and a 3 page list of errata. The last section in the table of contents covers the period 1945 to 1946 which leads me to assume that the year 1947 is to be covered in volume II. The externals show only mild wear. Both front and back hinges have some play in them due to the rather large and heavy text block. The interior is otherwise clean and the binding is solid. The dust jacket, which may or may not be original, is a clear heavy archival mylar jacket with no markings other than it is scuffed. .
