Two-tone red and black hardcover shows edge-wear, wear at spine head and tails, bumped and worn-through corners, fading along top-edges, and smudges. Protruding spine backstrip at the tail of volume 1. Smudges on bottom-edges of textblocks from sagging. Stain on pages 476-477 in Volume 1 from a previously placed newspaper clipping. Overall, the set is in Good condition.

Photographic plate as frontispiece, unique to each volume; plus additional photographic plates interleaved. Single mark strikethrough on verso. Light foxing at head. Overall sound and binding sturdy.
