This is a very good, bright copy with only a trace of wear at edges and corners. The dustwrapper is rubbed at the folds and edges and is rough along the top else is in very good condition. It is price-clipped.


Wolo (Baron Wolff von Falkenstein) was a refugee from Nazi Germany who took up residence in San Francisco where he worked for the Chronicle and developed his superb artistic ability.

A near fine copy in dust-jacket which has a clean tear near the head of its spine and has a scratch on its rear panel but is otherwise very good.

New York: William Morrow & Company, 1943. First edition. Hardcover. Poor. Wolo. Poor condition hardcover with spine covering missing and spine weave/binding weakening. Front cover colorful and billiant with Wolo's artwork. Rear cover stained and soiled. All pages intact and bound in, but definitely shaky due to the missing backstrap. Wear at the edges and corners through the paper and into the boards. Previous owner's gift inscription neatly to the front endpaper and penciled numbers in a child's hand to the first 4 pages. A heavily worn copy of this magnificently illustrated children's classic. 39 pp.
