Printed in three colors by Harold McGrath at the Pennyroyal Press, who also signed the book. A tour-de-force of wood engraving, the fourteen tiny cuts of thistle species are alternately black-on-white and white-on-black. A few spots along outer hinges, likely from glue, else a fine copy of this near-miniature book (4 1/4 by 3 1/4 inches), bound by Gray Parrot in green crushed morocco with titling, single rule border, and thistle tools all in gilt. This copy is also signed by the binder on the colophon page. Housed in wooden slipcase trimmed in matching green morocco. The smallest Pennyroyal production and arguably the most elegant.
