About This Item

New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1921. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Maud and Miska Petersham. 1st edition (no additional printings), INSCRIBED by the compiler on fep,12mo, green cloth with black titles, 328 pages, b/w full-page illustrations by Maud and Miska Petersham. Condition: VERY GOOD- book / no jacket: light rubbing to extremities, soiling to page edges, a few spots to front board, there is a "J" on the spine but no other library residue, internally clean and tight, book has been professionally restored at front and rear hinge, the Petersham illustrations being worth it - they are delightful. The inscription reads: "To 'Sister Mary' from hers affectionately A. C. T." The foreword from Tyler reads: "It has been suggested that the boys and girls who have so often listened to these stories in the clubs and story-hours of the New York Public Library, might like to have a few of their favorites in one book; that other boys and girls might be interested in reading them; and that the story-teller, in search of stories for special occasions, might find this little volume useful."
