Norwich, CT: The Henry Bill Publishing Company. Near Fine. 1884. First Edition. Hardcover. Two-volume hardcover set. No dust jackets. First printing of first editions, from 1884 and 1886 respectively. Books are crisp and clean in brown pebbly boards imprinted with bright gilt titles and decorations on fronts and spines. Beveled edges to boards. Decorative patterned endpapers. Binding on both volumes is tight, and corners are sharp with just a whisper of wear. Spine ends are somewhat softened. Interior pages are fresh and bright, with no writing or creases and only a very occasional incidence of soiling. Steel portraits scattered throughout both volumes. Tissue guards have tanned. Map at rear of Volume I is intact and clean, with a crease at corner tip not affecting the map itself. 8vo. 646 pp. And 724 pp. Including index. Heavy--about eight pounds; will require additional postage if shipped priority or outside the U. S. .
