Philadelphia: David McKay, 1890. Early edition. 8vo, original green cloth gilt lettered on the spine.t.e.g. 464. A handsome and bright copy showing very little evidence of age. The original publication of the book, in 1837, brought Hawthorne his first fame though little money.

Twice-Told Tales by Nathaniel Hawthorne is a collection of short stories, most of which are infused with a very New England gothic tone.
