1906. Very Good +. 1 typed letter on armorial letterhead of the Massachusetts Inspector General's Department, signed by Roger Wolcottt, Lt. Col. A. I. G. Mass. Dated Boston, 21 July 1906, the letter is to Col. Charles P. Nutter, Commanding Corps Coast Artillery. Roger Wolcottt (1877-1965), son of the governor of the same name, served in the Spanish American War, rising to Inspector General of the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia. In World War One he was a Major of Infantry. He served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1909 to 1912. Wolcott informs Nutter that he would be inspecting the battalion under Nutter's command. Like Wolcott, Nutter had served in the Spanish American War. In 1903 the 1st MVM Heavy Artillery Regiment was redesignated under the Corps of Coast Artillery and Nutter was the commanding officer from 1906 to 1910. In Very Good+ Condition: lightly creased; minor chipping on one edge; clean and solid.
