In part: "Yes, I am to take the 12:25, bringing me to your town at 5:50. Do by all means be good enough to purchase a ticket and make a resveration for me on the train leaving your city...." An American Reform rabbi and Zionist leader, Wise (1847-1949) founded the Free Synagogue in New York in 1907, conducting his services from Carnegie Hall for forty years.
