Hardcover, no dustjacket, brown cloth with illustration in gold of a ship on front cover and spine, 552 pages, many in-text illustrations and three maps, including one folding, nice clean copy with the following flaws: the protective tissue-guards are tanned but present, the blank yellow end-papers are discolored, mild scattered foxing on a small number of pages and quite insignificant overall, the cloth spine is faded and there is a small amount of edge-wear at the corner-tips and top of spine, the binding is tight and square .
