This is the first full account of the Ulster Volunteer Force, known as Carson's army a citizen army of 100,000 Ulster Prortestants, from its origins in 1912 until its virtual extinction at the Battle of the Somme; at a time when the Liberal Govenment was determined to grant home rule to Ireland, the Ulster Volunteer Force was organized to resist by force any attempt to eject Ulster from the United Kingdom; includes map and photographs (black cloth with gold lettering on spine, very slight edgewear, previous owner's address sticker on front endpaper; white pictorial dust jacket with orange lettering and photo of Belfast on Covenant Day, 1912, has a few creases along the upper edge and some brown reinforcement tape on the underside, not visible from the outside; otherwise a bright, clean, tight copy). First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good.
