Paris: Published for the Egoist Press, London, by John Rodker, 1922. Small, thick quarto. Original blue and white wrappers. Quarto gathering of errata laid in. Wrappers chipped at spine ends, with partial splits of wrapper joints at extremities, a few light rubs or soft creases to wrappers, a bit of minor foxing to errata and endleaves, but internally very good, and if properly bound, a quite agreeable copy. "First English edition," but more precisely the second impression of the first edition, printed from the largely unaltered plates used for the first impression, and intended for distribution in Britain. Copy #645 of 2000 numbered copies printed on handmade paper (i.e. a copy from the sequence erroneously alleged to have been burnt by US customs). SLOCUM & CAHOON A18. MODERN MOVEMENT 42.

NY, Harper & Row, 1988, first edition, first printing, dust jacket. Hardcover.. A Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee mystery set in prehistoric sites in Chaco Canyon and elsewhere in the Four Corners area, map endpapers, Hieb bibliography A10a, this copy Signed by Hillerman, it was with this title that Ernest Franklin, a Navajo artist, first started to illustrate Hillerman titles, when found, Hillerman's books usually have one original drawing by Franklin, but this copy has 17 original color drawings by Franklin, very scarce thus, housed in a cloth slipcase, according to bookseller Ernie Bulow who helped start this cottage industry of illustrating Hillerman's titles with Franklin, there are only three or four books of this title with multiple illustrations, this was likely a review copy, while there is no review slip, there is a c.5X7-inch b&w photo of Hillerman seated at his desk that would have accompanied a review copy. "[…] Piegata dal vento della vita, sub specie mutationis, l'opera di Alda Merini, in un flusso inarginato, si muove dalla narrativa alla poesia, dall'eros al mistico, dall'informe alla forma, dal terrestre al celeste, dal vissuto al sognato.
E' significativo notare il profondo legame di Alda Merini con le edizioni Pulcinoelefante di Alberto Casiraghy (edizioni veloci, stampate in giornata). Scarce. Likely one of just a few published copies of the British edition in existence. Hardcover Near Fine. No DJ. First edition of author's first book. Banned very shortly after publication. Suppressed in England on March 4, 1929. As a result, there is likely only a handful of copies remaining. In fact, the copy in the British Library is one of the 'French' copies published subsequent to the English copies. Sleeveless Errand was ruled obscene at the Bow Street Police Court. All but a few representative copies were ordered to be destroyed. The police had been tipped off about the content by the editor of the Morning Post after they had received a review copy. It was subsequently printed in Paris the same year by Jack Kahane's Obelisk Press. According to one publication, "Sleeveless Errand was probably the most suppressed novel ever published in England; every store containing copies was raided; and a guard stood for a week-end at the window of one store containing one copy, until the owner could be…
