About This Item
William Foster, Machine Printer, Cape Town, 1869. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 627 pages (complete). A casual copy. Of NOTE is the ex-libris plate on the front paste-down. The plate was for William Frederick Harry Pocock of Cape Town. Pocock was a land-holder in District Six at the end of the 19th Century. Of more importance were the photographs he took of the area, and of Cape Town, at a time of profound demographic change, as the Afrikaners left and the area became synonymous with different cultures, races. The book's boards are worn about all edges, seams, corners. The edges and spine are sunned. The boards are steady. The contents are comfortable. There is foxing fore and aft, and to the paper edges. By and large the contents are clean and clear, confident and contented. fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.
