Octavo, 311pp. Blue cloth, title in gilt on spine. Top edge dyed navy. Stated "First published 1961" on copyright page. Solid text block, touch of rubbing to spine, a near fine example. In the publisher's dust jacket, 18s retail price on front flap, dampstain to verso of front corner, rear cover soiled, touch of foxing to edges. Evelyn Waugh (1903-1966) was a renowned English novelist known for his distinctive satirical style. Educated at Oxford, Waugh gained early recognition with his debut novel, "Decline and Fall" (1928), and went on to produce a series of critically acclaimed works, including "A Handful of Dust" (1934) and "Brideshead Revisited" (1945).
