About This Item

New York:: Grosset & Dunlap,, (ca 1949. c. 1938.). Fair condition only (rather severe toning to the pages. corners bumped, shelfwear, damage to ends of spine, prev owner's name dated 1949) in a fair dust jacket (overall edgewear, creasing, rubbing, price-clipped, etc). Early printing. My favorite series as a young girl: I liked them for the realism: Judy starts out as a high school girl, has some of the usual problems all kids encounter including misunderstandings among friends, etc, is a little older and more mature in each book - in fact, she gets married, and eventually she and her husband even adopt a child. Unlike most of the other series books published by Grosset and Dunlap, this was not part of the Stratemeyer Syndicate. Margaret Sutton was a real woman, writing under her own name. Because of the opposition of the Stratemeyer Syndicate, this series did not have the extensive reprinting that the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys had. Frontispiece. Bound in terra cott boards with purple lettering, pink and white "flashlight" endpapers by Pelagie Doane. Lists to #17 on front flap of dust jacket, 250 pp

About Bookfever.com, IOBA

This is our 28th year in business. We started selling books in the CompuServe Book Collecting forum in 1993, quite a while before there was any commercial Internet. In 1998 we relocated our main business from Sacramento to the Sierra foothills of Amador County, about 35 miles east of downtown Sacramento and opened a store (called Books Upstairs) at the Antiques Upstairs Mall, 5 Main Street, Jackson, CA. (open every day from 10-5) The emphasis there is on Western Americana, children's books, mysteries, science fiction, and inexpensive reading copies of classics and vintage juvenile series. Please let us know if there are any other books you are looking for; we enjoy helping collectors complete their collection and we can often suggest books for reading! .
