Philadelphia: William Young, 1792. Leather. Good. Octavo size, 436 pp. An ambitious magazine publication, "The Universal Asylum, and Columbian Magazine" contained writings, in verse and prose, on a variety of subjects, such as politics, travel, the arts, and medicine; this particular volume also has a history of the American Revolution for several years towards the end of the conflict. This book is Volume VI only of the collected publications, and includes the magazines for the months of July through December of 1792. ___DESCRIPTION: Full brown leather, the spine with six gilt rules and lettering, and red leather spine label with decorative and ruled borders and lettering in gilt; octavo size (8.5" by 5.25"), pagination: [1-4] 5-433 [434-436]. Volume VI ONLY. ___CONDITION: Volume is good, with a strong, square text block; boards are clean overall with light soiling, rubbing to the head and tail of the spine, to the edges of the boards, and to the corners, and corners are gently bumped, front joint is starting to crack and both hinges have some slight cracking, but text block is still strong, light foxing throughout, mainly to the margins of the interior pages, about a one-inch loss to the bottom right corners of pages 401 and 402, with a loss of some of the text on page 401, and there is a prior owner inscription and prior owner name written in pencil on the front free endpaper and the first flyleaf, respectively. ___POSTAGE: International customers, please note that additional postage may apply as the standard does not always cover costs; please inquire for details. ___Swan's Fine Books is pleased to be a member of the ABAA, ILAB, and IOBA and we stand behind every book we sell.
