About This Item

New Bedford, Mass: The Union Organ Co, 1883. First Edition. Very Good. First Edition. Broadside, single sheet. 11 x 14 inches. Folded for mailing. A bright and clean impression. An advertising broadside for the Union Organ Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts. In short, the offer is to send in $12 plus a list of 25 names (heads of families who have no organ or piano), and the manufacturer will ship an organ directly to you. Their hope is that word of mouth advertising will sell the organs for them:

"Our only purpose in making such an offer is to have our Cabinet Organs more fully introduced. We challenge the world for a more liberal offer than this, and guarantee a faithful performance of every promise made in this circular. Workingmen, Laborers, Mechanics and Farmers can now have a Cabinet Organ in their homes by embracing this grand offer at once..."

With a nice engraving of the Cabinet Parlor organ, and a smaller set of illustrations of the "Golden Toned Reeds" below.

Gellerman's International Reed Organ Atlas By Robert F. Gellerman (2nd edition) notes that the company was active from at least 1883-1885.
