About This Item

Tucson, AZ: Dale Stuart King, 1968. Deluxe First Edition, Limited #98 of 250 copies. Original boards. 8vo. [6], 310 pp. Fold-out map. Illustrated by Harold A. Wolfinbarger, Jr., with numerous textual photographs and a fold-out map. Index. Dark blue velvet with gilt edges and gilt lettering to spine & front cover; housed in publisher's gold paper covered slipcase. Light wear else a fine copy. William Henry Corbusier, Medical Department, United States army, prevented an uprising of the Apache Indians and persuaded 1400 of them to leave their traditional home and trudge across rugged mountains to live in the country of their enemies. This story is largely the history of the Corbusier family but covers only the period from approximately 1869 to 1888 to focus on the story of the moving of the Indians from the Rio Verde Indian Reservation to the San Carlos Reservation - a story which has never been fully told.
