FINE 1988 reprint, a carefully produced facsimile of the 1906 first edition of Frederick Castle's insights, based on more than 50 years' experience working with violins - repairing, analyzing and experimenting with tone. This is a fresh copy from the library of the James Parsley, the man who organized this reprint (identified by a round blind embossed stamp to title page and last leaf). No other markings. The book is firmly bound in a taupe paper cover with title printed in black on the front. Pages and cover are fine; no tears, chips or creases. James Parsley was a member of the traditional country music group "The Kentucky Echoes" and of the Illinois Old Time Fiddlers Association. He resurrected this work when he found a fragile copy of the book in a garage sale. He recognized the value of Castle's treatise and organized this reprint.
