About This Item

Albany: Joel Munsell's Sons, 1886. Hard Cover. Good binding. Tall octavo. 446, [1] pp. First Edition. As issued, in green cloth with title in gold on the spine. Covers are a bit rubbed and soiled with a little fraying at the spine ends; hinges are a bit loose. Book plate of Virginia historian Conway Whittle Sams on the front pastedown as well as some pencil notes on the front free endpaper and regular pencil brackets in the margins, occasionally with brief notations.
