Blue cloth with titles stamped in gilt on front boards and spine. Many black and white photos, maps, illustrations. Map endpapers. The author was an oceanographer who helped design the Alvin submarine and led a scientific expedition to the volcanic island of Thera (Santorini) off the Greek coast. Mavor believed the cataclysmic eruption of this island during the Minoan era is the source for the Atlantis legends. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 320 pages .
