Captain Matthew Flinders was the first to circumnavigate Australia and the first to give Australia its name. Some of his survey charts are still in use today. Flinders and his crew gained little recognition probably due to the fact Flinders was captured and imprisoned by the French for many years but he is fondly remembered in Australia as a national hero. 223 pages with 30 black and white photographs and 11 line charts. Book in very good condition ex library with stamps on endpapers, title page and last two pages, borrowing sleave remnants and reference numbers on back endpaper. Dust jacket in good+ condition with sticker on spine and sticker remnants on front (see photo).
