Paris: Chez P. Bertrand, Libraire-Editeur, 1847. First Edition . Half Cloth - Hardbound. Good (see details)/No Jacket. Folio. Volume appears to have been rebound in the early 20th century, incorporating reprints of a few of the missing plates. Cloth over spine and corners is rubbed and a little worn. Marbled paper over boards is a little rubbed. Scattered, mostly light foxing. Volume remains tight and in generally good condition, though head of spine has been bumped, and there is a light crease at upper inside corner of all leaves. 22 of 26 plates are present, though five are good quality facsimile color reprints apparently included at the time of rebinding. The plates with condition are as follows, with the reprints being identified: 1 (skulls): scattered foxing over plate. 2 (skulls): scattered light foxing, mostly outside of borders. 2bis (skull portions): very light scattered foxing. 3 (Cebus fulvus): Color Facsimile reprint with slight foxing outside of image. 4 (Calitrix entomophagus): Color Facsimile reprint with slight foxing, mostly outside of border. 5 (Callithrix donaeophilus): Color Facsimile reprint with scattered very light foxing, mostly outside of border. 6 (Lophostoma silvicola): Color Facsimile reprint. 7: Lacking. 8 *Edostoma cinerea): Color Facsimile reprint. 9 (Noctilio rufipes, etc.): Hand colored engraving. 10 (Noctilio affinis & Molossus rugosus): Hand colored engraving. 11 (Molossus moxensis & Vespertilio): Hand colored engraving. 12 (Mephitis Humboldtii): Hand colored engraving. 13 (Cranes...): Engraving. 14 (Felis Geoffroyi): Hand colored engraving. 15 (Lutra platensis): Hand colored engraving. 16 (Octodon gliroides): Hand colored engraving with a couple very slight foxing spots. 17 (Ctenodactylus brasiliensis): Hand colored engraving. 18 (Cavia australis, etc.): Hand colored engraving with a couple of very slight foxing spots. 19: Lacking. 20 (Cerous antisensis, etc.): Hand colored engraving. 21 (Delphinus cruciger, etc.) Hand colored engraving. 22 (Inia boliviensis): Engraving, with a small part being hand colored. 23: Lacking. 24: Lacking. 25 (Delphinus blainvillei) Engraved with a small part being hand colored.
