This attractive antique volume is bound in dark brown cloth, with elaborate gilt ornamentation to covers that includes the royal coats of arms of the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as a small profile portrait of Emperor Charles V. ----- This book shows external wear, with narrow cracking to the spine edges, loss of material at the head of the spine, with minor loss at the foot of the spine and at the outside corners of the boards. ------ Spine is tender and is now protected in a clear custom Mylar jacket. ----- The binding is sound. The text block has gilt edges. This volume has yellow endpapers. Light toning is visible at the edges of the pages. The interior of this volume is otherwise clean and without markings. Text is in French. ----- The tissue-guarded plates are bright, offering richly detailed views of major Dutch and Belgian cities and landmarks. Containing views of Amsterdam (3x), Antwerp (2x), Breda, Bruges, Brussels, Dordrecht, Ghent, Haarlem, Leyden, Liège, Louvain, Malines, The Hague (2x), Rotterdam and Ypres. There is a wood engraved title page; 19 steel engraved plates, one of which is hand-colored.
