London: L. Davis and C. Reymers, 1758. First English edition. Two octavo volumes (7 7/8 x 4 7/8 inches; 201 x 124 mm). [2], xvi, [8], 432, 453-479, 472-509, [3, advertisements], [2, blank]; [8], 420, [18, index] pp. With seven plates, six of which are folding.

Contemporary full speckled calf, rebacked to style. Red morocco spine labels, lettered in gilt. Edges speckled red. Previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown of each volume. A bit of toning throughout. Browning from glue to endpapers. Overall a very good and handsome set.

"This translation of Ulloa's Relacion historica... was published exactly ten years after Richard Walter's official account of the Anson Voyage (q.v.), thus giving the British a valuable addition to their small fund of knowledge about the Spanish Viceroyalty of Peru..." (Hill, 1741).
