Eyre & Spottiswoode, 1901. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1901. No edition remarks. 396 pages. No dust jacket. Blue cloth boards with gilt lettering to front and spine. Many black and white illustrations and photographs as well as a small number of colour illustrative plates. Binding shaky. First few pages loose. Spine coming off papers. Severe split to title page gutter, exposing netting. Back hinge is cracked with netting exposed. Minor cracking to internal gutters. Pages, plates, photos and illustrations remain bright and clear with minimal tanning. Heavy tanning to endpapers.Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Bumping to corners and severe crushing to spine with fraying to cloth. Heavy tanning to spine and edges causing discolouration and gilt lettering to darken. Scratches to back board. Book has a slight forward lean.
