About This Item
Wolfe's first book in Russia.
The introduction was prepared by Inna Levidova (1916–1988), a translator, literary critic and key figure of the Soviet bibliography. She was a bibliographer in the All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature and wrote important bibliographies of English and American literature. She called Wolfe 'an eternal youth' and 'the son of America', who dreamed about 'changes in social structure and new discovery of America'. She also wrote, that Wolfe fought 'against fascism, selfishness and greed'.
The translator Irina Gurova (1924–2010) was well-known for her science fiction translations of Roger Zelazny, Clifford D. Simak, Ursula K. Le Guin, Isaac Asimov and Stephen King.
The cover, dust jacket and several illustrations were created by an artist Victor Duvidov (1932–2000). He studied at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute. Together with May Miturich he created murals for the Moscow Paleontological Museum.
OCLC locates three copies of this edition in USA: in the Princeton University Library, the University of North Carolina Library and the University of Texas Libraries.
