London: Secker, 1980. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. Signed by Author. First UK Edition. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR ON THE TITLE PAGE. Publisher's black boards with gilt spine lettering. A neat name and contemporary date on the title page and the merest hint of foxing to the page block edges otherwise a very nearly fine copy. The very fine price-clipped D/W is the finest example that I have ever seen and is in stunning un-faded condition. Exceedingly uncommon in this condition. Housed in a hand-made custom box. Scans invited.
Synopsis
Waiting for the Barbarians is a novel by the South African-born author J. M. Coetzee, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2003. The novel was published in 1980 and is regarded as one of Coetzee's finest pieces of writing. It was chosen by Penguin for its series Great Books of the 20th Century and won both the James Tait Black Memorial Prize and Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize for fiction.
