About This Item
First edition. viii, 232 pp including index of plants. The author describes this work as "the botanical appropriation of some half-hours of husbanded leisure" or a "botanical chit-chat". The notes for this work were gathered during the spring of 1847, the second year of the Irish famine, subsequent to which the author caught famine fever and almost died. He used his convalescence making notes for this title and upon recovery was most grateful to be able to partake in Walk After Wildflowers once more. The volume is intended as a familiar description of native plants, containing from the Crowfoots to the Crossworts inclusive in a letter-like style. Light browning around margins of title page, otherwise text clean. Black eps. Binding tight. Green cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine. Overall condition VG to VG+. A Scarce title.
