London: George Phillip & Son (32 Fleet St. in association with "Times & Tide"), 1956. Near fine printed color map measuring 36x46 inches, with folds as issued. Decorative, with keys for his Sea, Air, Rail and Road journeys, and for the major conferences of the time. Also 10 colored vignettes with various aircraft and ships applicable to the individual journeys. Churchill's journey's criss-cross the Atlantic. The 8.5x6 inch cardboard case, with a famous b&w view of the leader on the front, is intact, but the edges are beginning to separate and it is somewhat soiled. PERHAPS THE MOST surprising tact about eighteenth-century female soldiers and sailors is their frequency, not only in fiction but in history as well. Heroines such as Hannah Snell actually surface as commonplace, particularly in works catering to the lower classes.
