First Edition stated on copyright page; however, "Borzoi Books" logo emboss on lower rear of the black cloth cover indicates a Book Club copy. NOT an ex-library book. This book has perhaps never been read. Black cloth shows bright gilt-stamped titles. Jacket shows some nicks and tiny discoloration specks, but remains intact. Front jacket flap is corner-clipped. A good, firm, very useful copy. 434 pp.

Lengthily inscribed and dated by Sterling Hayden in the year of publication opposite the title page. Near fine in a very good dust jacket. Jacket design by Vincent Torre. Sterling Hayden was at the peak of his earning power as a movie star when he suddenly quit. He walked out on Hollywood, walked out of a shattered marriage, defied the courts, broke as an outlaw, set sail with his four children in the schooner Wanderer- bound for the South Seas.
