Some shelf wear and tear to unclipped DJ with some foxing to flies and staiining to reverse, some foxing to inside covers, endpapers and edges of reading block. ; First UK edition, first printing with no other printings listed. Purple cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Nice tight copy, no names inside, appears unread. DJ design uncredited. Very heavy book and priced accordingly. ; 892 pages; The story of the rugged men who first found gold, silver and copper in the West and the financial giants and rash speculators who exploited their findings in Wall Street. The year is 1862 and whilst Matt Devlin heads West to carve a new life prospecting in Montana, his brother-in-law Joshua Ching in New York winds his way to great fortune through the manipulation and financial downfall of others. .
