Spine with raised bands, each with gilt wavy line. Compartments fully decorated and ruled in gilt. Gren title label, gilt. Boards with double gilt ruled borders. Turn-ins with blind stamped floral design. Marbled endpapers. All edges marbled. Gilt stamped arms of Marlborough College on front board. Prize inscription on the front free endpaper, dated December 1910. A little foxing to the outer margin on a few leaves but overall a very good copy in a fine quality binding.:

Illustrated with 2 full page sepia aquatints, 12 line maps and 5 fine woodcut vignettes within the text. A very good copy in contemporary half brown calf. Spine with gilt thick and thin ruled and piped lines and oval centre pieces. Red morocco label, gilt. Marbled paper on boards. Edges a bit rubbed and bumped and small amount of chipping to the edges of the label, not affecting the lettering, but generally a very good copy.

Patavii: Josephus Cominus. Very Good. 1720. First Edition. Hardcover. Josephus Cominus; Cornelius Nepos was a Roman biographer nearly all of whose writings are lost. His only surviving work is the "Excellentium Imperatorum Vitae" (included herein pp. 1-125). This is actually only one volume of Nepos' larger "De Viris Illustribus," originally containing descriptions of foreign and Roman kings, generals, lawyers, orators, poets, historians, and philosophers. Johann Albert Fabricius (1668 - 1736) who was a German classical scholar and bibliographer included this work in his 'BIBLIOTHECAE LATINAE" (1st pub. 1703).
