With numerous maps and plans by Percy Fisher. xvi, 656 pp. Frontispiece & 11 other b/w photographic illustrations. With large folding loose map - Map of Port Arthur and its Defences (soiled at edges). An account of the Russo-Japanese War taken from a series of articles contributed to The Times. Intermittent foxing in text especially in vicinity of maps. Front hinge cracked. Previous owner's signature 'Hugh Dawnay' March 1906 on ffep. Major Hon Hugh Dawnay was the son of Viscount Downe. He was killed in action in the first Battle of Ypres on 6 November 1914. He was decorated with the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) Blue cloth boards with gilt lettering on front board and spine.Top edge gilt. Overall condition VG.
