Account of and attempt to categorize these Chinese ceramics; the author was keeper of the Department of Ceramics and Ethnography at the British Museum until 1938, and influential in the elevation of Asian ceramics from craft to fine art objects. Number 645 of 1500 copies of the first printing of the "ordinary" edition - there were an additional 500 unnumbered copies printed, and two signed editions, much smaller, with an extra plate. Stout hardcover, full grey cloth, gilt titling & decoration. Light general wear, corners bumped & frayed, inner hinges split but holding; bookplates of Denver achitect Willis Adams Marean and Denver antique dealers W. T. and Alfred W. Scott on endsheets, light stains. Text clean; xvi, 240 pages, 59 plates (nine in color) as called for; index, bibliography, translations of Chinese marks.
