Naval Institute Press, Annapolis, 1987, first US edition, 192 p. ill. b/w, plans, lines and photos, includes bibliography and index. very good/ good - slight yellowing discolouration, mylar. An account of HMS Warrior, the Royal Navy's first sea-going warship completed in 1861 combining for the first time armoured iron construction, steam propeller drive and rifled breech-loading fire-power. After active service for a number of years she was used as a storage hulk and depot ship in the West Indies until in 1979. This account follows the detailed progress of her restoration to her former glory, now in Portsmouth.
