About This Item
London: Cassell & Co Ltd, 1907. Soft red leather covers. 450pp. Gilt to front and spine. Top edge gilt. No jacket. The People' Library edition, 1907. Published originally in 1814, this is Scott's first venture into prose fiction. Historical novel set at the time of the Jacobite uprising of 1745. In later life, Scott often styled himself as "by the author of Waverley." Book in good condition. Leather a little worn around the edges and especially at the extremities of the spine. Some marking and rubbing and a crease to rear. Sporadic light spotting throughout but a very serviceable pocket-sized edition.
