About This Item

George Allen & Unwin. First edition published by George Allen and Unwin in 1934. This is a very good or better copy. The bright mustard jacket has minor wear to the top and bottom of the toned spine. There are two small tears to the top edge. There is general minor wear to the edges and corners. On the reverse of the jacket is a piece of tape that has repaired one of the tears. It has been price clipped. The book has the odd mark to the boards but overall is very clean with no marks or foxing to the pages. Overall a very good or better copy. Waley's translation of the Tao Te Ching, one of chinas most famous books dating to the end of the third century B.C. It is based on Waley's close study of early Chinese literature. He provides an introduction and commentary on each part. A very rare book to find in first print and with the jacket. A key Arthur Waley title.  . Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1934.
