About This Item

New York: Putnam's Sons, 1927 True 1st trade, with red buckham covers with real gold lettering and top edge GILT,this book has the orginal publishers note included, which states this special edition was sent directly from the publisher and was mailed to its regular customers as a Special Offer and free first look, asking for a remittance of $3.00 if they kept the book. Also included with this book is the orginal invoice from the publisher showing remittance was made for $3.00, on the invoice it states Lindbergh's Own Book "We", Special edition, bound in genuine buckham, gold top and stamping. It is stamped with paid from the mail order dept, and dated Aug 8,1927(which is glued on the last page of the book(last leaf),with a numbered stamped Postal receipt from Garfield NJ dated Aug 6, 1927. When I received this book about 15 years ago I jumped on the phone and called previous owner and ask about a DJ because it is so really clean and bright as if unwrapped yesterday.they looked but couldn't find it and didn't know if it was in the box thrown out it came in with others books from a deceased relative. So I don't really know if it came with one mailed directly from the publisher, but it has everything else not found anywhere on the net. Like I just said, this book looks like it was delivered yesterday. only flaw I see is on the first photo of Lindbergh in blue ballpoint ink it is written at the bottom away from the photo "died August 1974 "., 99% or more of the gold still intact on the top edge, unread tightness, with a little dulling of the gold lettering(tarnish since it is real gold as stated from the publisher),but all is intact. If it had its original mailing box I would have listed it as fine, and WITHOUT THE NAME MENTION EARLIER. ADDED BONUS: another copy of WE, this is the Blue Cloth with Gold Lettering, also the first issue(trade) after the signed edition, this book is fine, even brighter than the RED listed here, but the main title page and the photo page across from it is showing foxing it comes with a unpriced DJ, which you can move to the red to add value to it or just to protect the book. . 1st Trade Edition. Buckram. Near Fine/as issued. Included Picture postcard of Lindbergh in front of his plane, ANOTHER BONUS: I have repurposed a jewelry for storage of the books from light, dust, dirty hands.

Nice set of American history books highly collectible. Charles would go on to help American Forces in the Pacific after years of trying to keep the US out of the brewing war in europe to save American Lives. But with the bombing of Pearl Harbor that drew USA into war on two fronts he was one of the first to offer his services(he was also one of the brightest minds on airplanes and was a commander of his own Air Force wing in the Pacific.

More information from the listing: Please see photos for future details and condition. I used an older camera that is much like an SLR giving real colors/details. Right click the photo You should be able to download the photos to expand them. It should ask if photo opened in different /tab page(yes).

I use the inside photos of the Blue copy because it was the cheaper of the two and Red is more of a delux model without the problems of the Blue. Even with that said the Blue displayed here is the highly collected 1st Trade Print Blue state. With these photos you can see which is of better quality and is mentioned and priced higher by Ahearn's Book Collecting: A Comprehensive Guide 1995 & 2000 edition.
Blue copy has a erased area on the inside top leaf, the pages are a little age toned and the 1st pictured and main title page is beginning to fox, The dustjacket picture may not be original to this copy, no pricing. As you can notice the page ends look darker that the red because Red has better paper. The top blue is yellow which is a issue point. Book itself is VG+ or better.
Red issue as I see it has only 1 defect in that on the 1st inside photo left corner has written in ink "Died Aug 1974" could probably be erased but not by me. On what would have been pg 319 is glued the return instructions receipt with the stamped post office stamped receipt dated Aug 6th 1927. It also states this is a special edition made with red buckham and gold top and lettering. I have seen different printings of the red and of 40+ in the blue.
So here along with the photo past card, I have repurposed a jewelry box for storage to keep them in this beautiful condition.
This is the last of my Lindergh collection which over the years I am proud to have found in free market hands. A couple of pieces to Museum in St Louis and a Hand penciled Portrait(wonderful story behind that one And I took a chance because I didn't have a good photo) which Lindbergh signed to the trust that restored his vacation Hawaiian House.

About Pulitzer Prize Books.com

I am a private collector, mainly Pulitzer Prize winners, but I inherited 1000's of hardcovers and looking to sell them off. I will be relocating in the near future, and need to lighten the load.
