About This Item
The First UK printing published by George Allen & Unwin, London in 1918. The BOOK is in near Fine condition with just a hint of toning to the text-block and page edges. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The paper label to the spine is very clean and complete. The scarce WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. Mild edge wear with toning to the spine. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. 1030 copies were printed but significantly less were bound. 190 unbound copies were destroyed in a 1940 bombing raid, and the remainder of the unbind stock was purchased in 1960 by Bertram Rota and issued in a slightly different binding. The book did not appear under Muir's own name until the USA edition of 1920. The author's first book and scarce with the wrapper. Collectible.
