The second cruise book (July 7, 1976 - February 7, 1977) of the USS Nimitz, inscribed by Commanding Officer Captain Richard T. Gaskill: "Presented to Foreign Minister and Mrs. Moshe Dayan on the occasion of the visit of USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) to Haifa, April 6-11, 1978. Richard T. Gaskill, Captain, U.S. Navy Commanding."

Moshe Dayan was an Israeli military leader and politician served as Chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces and Minister of Defense, Foreign Affairs and Agriculture in the Israeli government.
