Clean text, solid binding. Corners are mildly bumped. Boards are stiff. Dust jacket is present but has significant loss around the edges, tattered, slightly faded on spine but still readable. Dust Jacket is now protected by mylar cover.

Ellis, a Mississipian and a devout Christian, worked unceasingly for racial harmony while working at Alaska's Elmendorf Air Force Base and "closely observ[ing] the relationship between white and Negro workers ... His immersion into racial matters, on the Base, hastened his determination to publish this book." Context indicates that the author is an African American.

Illustrated with one black-and-white plate by Richard Jarrett. Near fine in a chipped and worn fair only dust jacket, with the word "Negroes" on the front panel underlined. This African-American author was born and educated in Newton, Mississippi. "So much has been written about Negroes and 'the new revolution' caused by rising demands on the part of Negroes for full recognition as 'first class citizens' that the public is confused... I have likened the 20 million Negroes, in America, to a weak link in a chain. The white people of the nation comprise the strong links of the whole chain... The purpose of this book is to help white people realize that proper humanitarianism and compassionate action on their part will prevent the 'weak link' from snapping apart" (from the author's foreword). Scarce.
