John Murray, 1823. First Edition. Paper Back. Very Good. The first and second issues bound together in one volume. 8vo in 1/4 red morocco on marbled paper, raised bands, title and decorations in gilt, marbled endsheets, new endpapers. Light foxing throughout the second issue, ancient p.o. signature at the top of the first issue title page. The odd thing is that the binder got stuff out of order. The second issue ('the end' and imprint on page 188) is first in the volume, followed by the first issue, and then followed by the November 1822 ads that accompanied the second issue. The sheets in the first issue and the ads have been trimmed to 203mm; the second issue sheets remain 210mm.

Octavo, bound in full polished calf with five raised gilt bands to the spine, morocco spine label lettered in gilt, gilt turn-ins and inner dentelles. Lacking the publisher's advertisements. In very good condition.

George Gordon Byron, more commonly known as Lord Byron, was an English poet and a prominent figure in the Romantic movement. He has always been regarded as one of Britain's greatest poets. His play 'Werner', or 'The Inheritance'
was his attempt to transform theater at the time. 'Werner' was an adaptation of Harriet Lee's "Kruitzner" though it was poorly received at the time and has not gained much following since.
This 1823 English edition was published in London by Murray.
