Among the highlights noted were the following: the Armagnac Breviary, illuminated for Jean du Roussay, Paris, before 1407; the Bible of Santa Cecilia in Rome, 2 volumes, 9th and 11th century; romanesque manuscripts including a Homiliary, two Psalters, an Origen from Lambach Abbey, and a Greek Lectionary from Constantinople; romances of Alexander the Great, Sir John Mandeville, and L'Abuze en Court; classical and humanist texts, including books by Ovid, Horace, Cicero, Petrarch, and William Horman; 25 Books of Hours, including examples from Florence, Perugia, Paris, Tours, Anjou, Amiens, Auvergne, Bourges, Troyes, Bruges, Delft, Utrecht and Germany; a Bull of Pius V addressed to central America, and the earliest known South American choirbook; an archive of charters issued in Palestine during the Siege of Acre, 1191; a collection of 28 Greek manuscripts from the library of Baroness Burdett-Coutts (1814-1906); manuscripts from the Christian Orient including a Synaxarium illuminated for the Empress Sabla Wengel of Ethiopia, 1646; manuscripts in Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Samaritan, French, Anglo-Norman, Middle English, Langue d'Oc, Italian, Portugese, German, Dutch, Russian, Coptic, Syriac, Arabic, Armenian, Ge'ez andTigrijnya.
