Auburn: Derby and Miller, 1852. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. 1st edition. 12mo, contemporary blind-stamped red cloth with gilt titles and decoration on spine, 327 pages, [8] pages publisher ads, engraved frontispiece with tissue guard of Mary and William Howitt (they are described beginning on page 144. The Howitts together wrote over 180 books! - though Bartlett repeatedly states: "you would not take her for an authoress." She is most famous for her poem "The Spider and the Fly."). Condition is VERY GOOD -: ex-library with class # on spine in white, some residue and "discarded" stamp on rear endpapers, front endpaper has "Property of Avon Free Public Library, Avon, Conn" and a penned name of Thomas Williams, light rubbing and small tears to extremities, light general soiling to boards, light scattered foxing, Take a tour of London with Bartlett, where you will meet all manner of people, places, and tales. The author was from Avon, Connecticut, so interesting to see that the Avon library discarded one of their very own authors!
