About This Item

The First UK Printing published by Collins, London in 1971. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. A little pushing at the spine ends with light toning to the text-block. Slight offsetting to the end-papers. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. It is the correct first issue with the advert for 'Charley' to the rear panel and priced at '£1.25 net'. A little lifting and loss of the laminate at the lower spine end, lower rear edge and less so at the upper spine end. No fading of colouring to the spine. The wrapper looks very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. B/W chapter header illustrations by the author. The very scarce first title in the 'Out of Hitler Time' series. Scarce. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.

Synopsis

Nine-year-old Anna was too busy with schoolwork and friends in 1933 to take much notice of Adolf Hitler's rise to power in her native Germany. But when her father is suddenly, unaccountably missing, and her family flees Berlin in secrecy, Anna is forced to learn the skills needed to be a refugee and finds she's much more resilient than she thought.192 pp.
