Binding generally sound but with significant silverfish predation and crazing to the cloth covered boards. Titles at spine, which are usually found much dimmed, are here almost entirely effaced. A few signatures starting slightly but endpages and contents sound. Illustrated with several finely composed and executed woodcut plates signed Longacre. A treatment of the coal worker and laborer, soldier and common man pitted against the power of the baron and the government. Published without authorial attribution, this late 19th century work advocating for the rights of the working man is somewhat uncommon. Prior ownership in pencil at rear, front and rear endpages with period pencil renderings of a woman's face and torso. Externally shabby with with generally soild guts. Fair to Good only, thus .
