London: Bloomsbury, 1998. SIGNED. 1st/1st. Like New. First edition, first printing with complete number line ending with 1. This English trade edition precedes the American edition. Signed by John Irving on the title page. Unread book is tight and square with sharp corners and clean unmarred boards. Sewn-in bookmark. Textblock has lightly tanned pages otherwise clean with no writing, bookplate or marks and not BCE, ex-library or remaindered. Dust jacket is unclipped (£16.99) and pristine. Protected in a Brodart cover. The ninth of his novels to be published. The first section of the novel was made into the movie The Door in the Floor in 2004.

Synopsis

John Irving has been nominated for a National Book Award three times–winning once, in 1980, for the novel The World According to Garp. A Prayer for Owen Meany was published in 1989. In 1992, Mr. Irving was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In 2000, he won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Cider House Rules –a film with seven Academy Award nominations.
