Paul Belloni Du Chaillu was a French-American traveler, zoologist, and anthropologist. Trivial external rubbing and soil; ownership signature ("John Lowell") to front endpaper, else a tight, straight and handsome copy, Near Fine in the attractive publisher's binding. Uniform with the "Harper's Young People's Series," which included at least four of Du Chaillu's works.

New York: Harper and Brothers, 1896 A solid book, hinges intact, has a very slight lean. Brown end papers , numerous engravings including the frontispiece have tissue protection intact. Minor reading smudges and very little foxing although tissues are yellowed.. Brown boards with gilt decoration of gorilla , guns and title. Spine gilt is very dulled although title in embossed. Bumping and rubbing to most edges indicative of shelfwear.
